How to understand neurodivergent indivisual’s function and ableism

Awarded on

August 24 2024

Toronto Canada

organized by Toronto International Society of Innovation & Advanced Skills (TISIAS)

Neurodivergence refers to the natural variation in human brain function, encompassing conditions such as autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. These differences represent unique ways of thinking and experiencing the world rather than deficits. However, ableism—discrimination favoring “normal” functioning—often marginalizes neurodivergent individuals by promoting exclusion, stigma, and unequal opportunities.

Creating an inclusive society requires challenging ableism and embracing neurodiversity through understanding, empathy, and systemic change. Education and awareness are vital to reducing misconceptions, while individualized support and sensory-friendly environments help meet diverse needs. Strength-based approaches that recognize and nurture the unique talents of neurodivergent individuals can enhance their confidence and contributions. Inclusive policies in education, employment, and healthcare are equally important to ensure access, equity, and participation.

Collaboration with neurodivergent individuals in decision-making and advocacy empowers them to shape the systems that affect their lives. By fostering acceptance and recognizing neurodivergent strengths—such as creativity, problem-solving, and attention to detail—society can unlock innovation and human potential. Embracing neurodiversity is not only a moral imperative but a pathway to a more compassionate, equitable, and forward-thinking world where all individuals can thrive and contribute meaningfully regardless of neurological differences.

Breathing is a physiological and cognitive process that plays a crucial role in enabling human speech. Over the years, various studies have established a link between breathing patterns and speech performance. For instance, a notable journal from Harvard Med Publications highlighted that diaphragmatic breathing not only reduces stress and cortisol levels but also enhances rest and concentration. Given that increased levels of rest and concentration can significantly improve the flow of speech, we embarked on a study to examine the effects of diaphragmatic breathing on speech fluency.

In our study, ten adolescents were randomly assigned to two distinct groups: an experimental group that practiced deep breathing exercises between trials 1 and 2 (where they read a given text), and a control group that did not receive any intervention. The findings were quite revealing. The experimental group exhibited a substantial decrease in errors from the first to the second trial, suggesting that the diaphragmatic breathing method indeed enhances speech fluency.

A Study on Digital Literacy Pattern Analysis

“Best academic papers on invention”

January 20 2024 Seoul Korea

Social networking services (SNS) have become popular communication channels for disseminating information to the public. The use of SNS to spread false information has shaped public opinion and impacted the formation of political action. By focusing on the ongoing pandemic, this study aims to predict the extent of digital literacy disruption caused by rumors and misinformation about COVID-19. We have noted a correlation between the distribution of GDP in the United States and COVID-19 vaccination rates by region. Differences in regional GDP distribution affect digital literacy identification. Our research identifies the key factors shaping digital literacy and predicts the formation of public behavior patterns. We compare and analyze prediction accuracy by applying K-means clustering and CNN-based models.

Results

Quantitative measurements for digital literacy can be obtained by analyzing user data on Twitter. Data set correction was done by randomly sampling tweets related to the Coronavirus vaccine for each state in the United States. Key features were extracted through pre-trained BERT. A total of five relatively important features were selected. Tweet_per_person_65 normalized each trait to set the maximum age for each state to 65, dividing SNS users by each state's population density.

Enhancing decision-making in retail: leveraging time series analysis for forecasting sales trends in a global superstore

This study explores how time series analysis of retail sales data can drive more effective, data-driven strategies in the modern retail industry. Traditionally, retail decision-making has relied on intuition and experience, but the growing availability of large-scale datasets enables analytical approaches that reveal deeper insights into consumer behavior and market dynamics.

Using four years of sales data from a global superstore, the research examines patterns across regions, customer segments, and seasons to identify opportunities for strategic improvement. The analysis finds that sales are highest in the West and East regions—particularly in California—suggesting the need for region-specific marketing and promotions. The Consumer segment generates the most revenue, warranting enhanced loyalty programs and personalized incentives, while the Corporate and Home Office segments would benefit from business-oriented pricing and bundled offerings.

The study also identifies clear seasonal trends, with significant end-of-year sales peaks. Retailers should plan major promotional campaigns during these periods and tailor smaller promotions for other high-demand times such as summer or holidays. Finally, integrating sales trend analysis into inventory management can prevent stockouts and overstocking, optimizing supply chain efficiency. Overall, the study demonstrates how data-driven insights can enhance marketing precision, customer retention, and profitability in the retail sector.
